Pat is about to leave school and in most respects her life is unexceptional until she tries to get an apprenticeship as a mechanic in a garage. This film raises for discussion the pressures on girls to conform to traditional feminine patterns and the problem an individual faces trying to cope as Pat's relationships with friends, boyfriends and family become strained.  This film was funded by grants from the Equal Opportunities Commission, Manpower Services Commission and Yorkshire Arts Association.
